Sony Xperia Z First full HD phone heads to the UK!
The Sony Xperia Z is real! As rumoured, this five-inch Android beast packs next-gen specs including a full HD display – and unlike some of its rivals, it’s headed to the UK too! Read on for all the details.
Those leaks were bang on the money: the 7.9mm thin, quad-core Sony Xperia Z is a monster Android phone with a pin-sharp, 1080p resolution display. It pulls down data from the web at 4G speeds, and around the back there’s a 13 megapixel camera sensor, and unusually, the whole affair is water resistant.
It runs Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean” out of the box, but Sony says an upgrade to more feature-packed 4.2 is on the way.
The Sony Xperia Z isn’t the first full HD smartphone to make it into officialdom: HTC already has one model, the Droid DNA, on sale in the US and Japan. But with a Q1 (before April) release date, the Xperia Z may be the first to arrive in the UK – Vodafone has already announced it’ll be stocking the phone.

Raspberry Pi The worlds cheapest computer gets even cheaper!
The latest entry into the Raspberry Pi line-up of super-cheap computers is ready to roll – and at just over £15, it’s cheaper than ever.
Known as the Raspberry Pi Model A board, this version is a little bit smaller and it chomps through less energy, but it does lose a few ports, namely, a lack of Ethernet and a downsize to just a single USB port.
This version is aimed at schoolkids rather than professional and amateur hackers alike: chopping off a few ports means less headaches, and students can get down to learning the basics.
You can still hook up the new Raspberry Pi to the internet by attaching a Wi-Fi repeater to certain parts on the board, and if you do it’ll work just as well as a media centre with XBMC thanks to the 256MB of RAM found on the board.
The new Model A board costs only £15.95 plus tax and shipping, and is available today in the UK and Ireland before being rolled out to the rest of the world.

Sceptre teases 2013 lineup that includes near borderless TVs WiFi sound bar
Sceptre isnt waiting for CES to give a peek at what its home theater roster will bring. This year, the budget-focused company is hoping to take on the extra-minimalist TVs weve seen from Samsung and LG. Its 32- to 55-inch Rimless series wraps an LED-backlit LCD with a 4mm-thick bezel. Some of its overall TV line should also have MHL-capable HDMI ports to take video from mobile devices or a Roku Streaming Stick. Scepters audio focus may be the most unique part of its lineup, however: it should have the first compact, 2.1-channel sound bar with WiFi, turning older TVs into connected models.
